Press Release: Asian American Chamber of Commerce Annual “Jewels of Asia” Awards Gala Announces its 2021 Awardees!

The Asian American Chamber of Commerce (AACC) will host its 12th Annual “Jewels of Asia” Awards Gala virtually on Tuesday, May 25, 2021.  This year’s event will utilize a the Hopin virtual meeting platform for easy accessibility, include professional networking, top Business Panel discussions, keynote speaker, remarks from our legislative officials and county representatives, cultural demonstrations, and awards recognition.  The Gala remains a signature affair in the Chamber’s repertoire of yearly events that brings business professionals together in celebration of achievement in the Asian American Pacific Islanders’ (AAPI) community.  The Chamber continues its event theme of “Creating a Golden Future for Business Success.”
 Focusing on the future of business during the on-going challenges of the Pandemic along with social unrest that has impacted individuals in the AAPI community will be embraced themes to unite all participants as AACC advances their Respect & Unity Campaign to support diversity and inclusion efforts in the region’ workforce and beyond.  Stephanie Shei, Vice-President of M&T Bank and AACC Board Chairwoman, and Ken Fang, President at Mobomo Inc. and AACC Board Member, are this year’s Co-Chairs of the 2021 Awards Gala.  Zongwei Tao, President of Weris Inc. led this year’s Awards Committee that reviewed all nominees in 10 distinct categories and determined the final list of awardees.      
During the Awards Gala, the Chamber plans to recognize individuals, small businesses, corporations, non-profit community organizations, and individual AAPI business leaders who made a significant impact and outstanding contribution to the Greater Washington, D.C. business community and global communities at-large in 2021.  Celebrating the spirit of partnership, collaboration, and notable success will be key components that support the Respect & Unity Campaign Theme that unites the region’s business community in true solidarity.  This year’s Gala will feature special remarks from our Keynote Speaker, Ambassador Katherine Tai, U.S. Trade Representative, that serves on President Biden’s Cabinet.  Ambassador Tai was unanimously confirmed by the U.S. Senate to her post.  As a member of the President’s Cabinet, Ambassador Tai is the principal trade advisor, negotiator, and spokesperson on U.S. trade policy.  Dr. Cindy Shao, President/Founder of AACC, will present the Presidential Volunteer Service Awards from The White House Initiative on Asian-American Pacific Islanders (AAPI) to recipients who have given their time to the advancement of the chamber’s mission.   
The “Jewels of Asia” Awards Gala continues its primary dedication to recognizing achievement in the business community and individual accomplishment.  The festivities will continue to embrace the rich Asian cultural traditions that complement the diversity that graces our DC Metro Region.  AACC is proud to announce the 2021 Awardees that exemplified excellence for their service and contributions in the AAPI business community.  This year’s prestigious awardees included:
